One of the biggest mysteries in the InuYasha series I don't think any fan will understand is WHY did Kagome always wear her school uniform during the events of InuYasha? I mean I can understand her wearing it the first time when she was pulled into the Bone Eater's Well by the centipede demoness. But after that it literally made no sense at all for her to even wear it unless she was planning to go to school in Feudal Japan but of course junior high schools didn't exist back then.
As much as I do respect Rumiko Takahashi's work and most of her manga's I came across some articles I found on line that mostly explains her reason(s) behind this is and seriously it's the most ridiculous.
Apparently her reasons for wearing was because it was entirely for the sake of recognition as while she wears casual clothes when she is in the present outside of school, she wears the uniform exclusively when in the past despite the impracticality of hiking for miles in a skirt and school shoes. Kagome prefers to wear her school uniform when she travels to the past because it's durable and it's easy to wash the blood out of it.
I am sure that some will agree with me that really doesn't make any sense because her top is white and I am sure from all the times she had to probably wash it in Feudal Japan, Bleach (not the anime/manga) wasn't invented yet. I am pretty sure that there are a lot of other clothes that are more durable to wash and also easier to get blood stains out of. Even other anime characters like Dawn from Pokemon, in her main outfit it made a lot more sense: vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/t… because it was made for travel and even Nami from One Piece sure she was seen in several battles wearing a skirt with either high-heel shoes on or knee high boots. Plus during her arrival at Zou in the later manga chapters made more sense too: vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/o… because it still showed that Nami was at least dressed for proper exploring of the island (although I don't know about high heels) but at least it wasn't school uniform.
It was rather pointless nonetheless as you would think that walking in the wilderness of Feudal Japan in a short skirt and her legs are exposed to bugs, rough branches, and other wildlife, even poison ivy you think that wearing jeans or even shorts with a pair of appropriate hiking boots would be more suitable then a Junior High School uniform.
Just as I stated I have much respect for Rumiko Takahashi and love InuYasha but there are just some curious scenarios that do occur that make you seriously scratch your head and Kagome Higurashi wearing a school girl's uniform in Feudal Japan is one of them.

This right there shows how utterly incompetent Kagome is as a teen heroine. Yes, I know she was a 15-year-old schoolgirl during the original show's run, but she has called unnecessary attention to herself, especially where the rogue's gallery is concerned. You would think that Kagome would have had other clothes in her arsenal, but no. She lacked resourcefulness to ever adapt to that environment. Sure, she might have adapted in Inuyasha the Final Act's last moments and Yashahime into her Miko outfit, but it was too little too late.
